How to get
to El Nido
Getting to El Nido is pretty straightforward. The most direct route is flying into El Nido Airport (Lio Airport) via AirSWIFT, with daily flights from Manila, Cebu, or other nearby islands like Coron. It’s a little pricier, but it saves you loads of time. If you’re on a tight schedule, flying is the way to go as your average flight time will be around (or under) one and a half hours.
If you’re on a budget (like we are ), you can also take the ferry from Coron to El Nido. That’s what we did, and we really recommend it. It cost us 5.800 PHP (around € 95) for both of us, took under 4 hours, and we even had WiFi on board! Compare that to the price of flight tickets, and we think we’ve scored a pretty great deal.
How to get around
El Nido
El Nido is wonderfully easy to navigate, with most of the action centered around the town proper and nearby beaches. For short trips, tricycles are your go-to: they’re cheap, cheerful, and always ready to zip you from A to B. Planning to explore a bit further? Renting a scooter (around 500 PHP per day) is a popular choice. It’s what we did because it gave us the freedom to visit spots like Nacpan Beach or Duli Beach at our own pace.
Island hopping is the real highlight here, and boat tours (A, B, C, or D – yes, they’re lettered) are the best way to see the beautiful lagoons and hidden beaches. If you’re staying a bit out of town, some accommodations offer free shuttles or bikes for guests.
